Im Schatten des Matterhorns

«A pair of history buffs» is an appropriate description for the two «Matterhörnlis» behind this project: Loris, who digs through archives deep into the night, and Anna, who actually just wants to create animations but has also come under the spell of history. Their first three pilot episodes feature individuals whose stories shed light on Switzerland’s entangled history regarding slavery, women’s rights and national socialism. They go to where the action takes place and present their ideas in an entertaining but journalistic style.

«With their edutainment format, Anna and Loris speak to a young audience in order to interest them in historical topics and people’s stories, and encourage a critical look at Swiss history. They use a wide range of storytelling possibilities on social media, including animation, hosting, visual language [...]. ‹Im Schatten des Matterhorns› (‹In the Shadow of the Matterhorn›) is a highly promising Bachelor’s project which deserves to be pursued further. It addresses an important issue for the media and society in general – how to provide young people with a knowledge of history and create an enthusiasm for it.» – Excerpt supporting statement of the Subject Area Cast / Audiovisual Media

«I would like to continue unleashing my creativity and make animations of anything that I can lay my hands on (in AfterEffects).» – Anna Suter

Loris Bosco grew up in Zofingen in Canton Aargau and already had a keen interest in digital media at an early age. After his vocational training as a mediamatics technician (EFZ), he worked in marketing at a subsidiary of Swisscom. In 2021, he started his Bachelor’s degree in Cast / Audiovisual Media at Zurich University of the Arts. Meanwhile, he also worked freelance in video making and cutting, for example, creating various video recaps of concerts and festivals. It is important to him to let his personal style and humour show in his projects.
