How do I make sure I don’t become pregnant, how do I avoid catching venereal diseases, and why do I bleed every month? All this is taught at school. Yet the emotional effects of the subject of sexuality in young women are hardly ever discussed. The Instagram magazine «The Morning After» will deal with precisely these important questions. Fictional animated stories shed light on the serious, but partly also absurd aspects of female sexuality. The protagonists experience an unexpected pregnancy, painful sex or find their sexual orientation. In short: «The Morning After» offers young women support, answers and a platform for exchange.
With «The Morning After», Vera Gut has successfully created an Instagram magazine which addresses the subject of female sexuality and its emotional repercussions in an entertaining, accessible and informative way aimed at young women. The specific visual language, the design and use of social media all live up to the ambition to counterbalance the deficits of sex education. By means of an abstracted style, a deliberately universal storyworld and messages in English, women from different backgrounds can be reached directly with these intimate questions and engaged in an exchange on their favourite platform.
