«Madame Charlotte» is a documentary short film by Jasmine Jacot-Descombes about the life of her grandmother. It revolves around the question: «Is my grandmother a bad person?»
In «Madame Charlotte», Jasmine Jacot-Descombes pursues the universal question about wickedness in human beings and looks into her own family history with ruthless candour. On a formal level, this co-production with Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) is not only executed in an original and skilful style but also lets us forget the considerable constraints affecting its production phase as a result of the current pandemic. Accompanied by a web presence and an Instagram page, «Madame Charlotte» is a successful example of an audiovisual format with great potential to also reach audiences beyond the web.
